Terry EffeneyChief Executive Officer - Terry Effeney

BE (Hons), BEcon, MEng, FAICD, RPEQ, FIEAust

Terry Effeney was appointed CEO of Energex in January 2007.

Prior to joining Energex, Terry held the role of COO (Chief Operating Officer) of Ergon Energy and was an Executive Manager with Ergon Energy and its predecessor organisations for more than 10 years.

Terry has more than 30 years experience in the energy industry, combining an engineering and economics background with extensive operational management experience.

Terry is Chair of Energy Networks Association (ENA).


 

Darren BusineChief Financial Officer - Darren Busine

BEc, FCPA, FFin, GAICD

Darren joined Energex as the Chief Financial Officer on 29 October 2007.

He has over 20 years’ experience in finance and strategic management roles; predominantly in the finance and energy industries.

Prior to joining Energex, Darren held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Ergon Energy from 2006 and Group Financial Controller from 2000.

Prior to joining Ergon Energy, Darren spent 10 years with Suncorp Metway in a range of finance, strategic and commercial management roles.


 

Chris ArnoldProcurement, People and Services - Chris Arnold

Chris has been an Executive General Manager within Energex since March 2006 overseeing Network Performance and later Programming, Procurement and Services. He assumed the EGM Procurement, People and Services role in January 2013. 

Chris has worked in various parts of the Queensland electricity industry since graduating as an electrical engineer in 1982.


 

Asset Management - Peter Price

  • Network Maintenance & Performance
  • Metering Dynamics

Peter has been an Executive General Manager within Energex since March 2006 overseeing Programming, Procurement and Services and later Network Performance. He assumed the EGM Asset Management role in January 2013.

Peter has held various positions within Energex since joining the company in 1981 after attaining an Honours Bachelor Degree in Engineering and a Masters in Engineering Science at the University of Queensland.

His senior management experience has seen him involved in all aspects of the energy industry, including capital planning and program delivery, asset management, procurement, regulatory issues, commercial and non-regulated revenue.

Peter has been involved in a number of external committees and is presently Chair of Energy Skills Queensland and SkillsTech Australia.


 Peter Weaver

Service Delivery - Peter Weaver

Responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for the overall strategic and operational delivery of:

  • Distribution Management System 
  • Business Operations
  • Network Operations 
  • Commercial Business
  • Design 

Peter has been an Executive General Manager within Energex since 1998. When he joined Energex his primary role was to amalgamate the Call Centre, Customer Accounts and Service Delivery sections in preparation for the opening of the commercial electricity market.

In July 2001 he was appointed General Manager Shared Services and took on the additional responsibilities for Business Support Services, Property Group, Finance and Human Resources and Procurement Services Group.

Following the sale of the Energex Retail Operations, Peter relinquished responsibility as the head of the Finance and Human Resources groups and took on the added responsibility for Government Relations, Corporate Communications, Customer Advocacy, Legal Services and the Energy Market Services Group.

Peter became Executive General Manager for Service Delivery in January 2013. The division was previously known as Energy Delivery and has two additional Groups (Customer Contact Group and Network Program Office) to improve service to customers.

Prior to joining Energex, Peter spent 14 years at Ansett Airlines in accounting, operations and sales roles before purchasing his own small business in North Queensland in 1997.

  • Regulatory Affairs 
  • Corporate Communications
  • Customer Standards and Advocacy
  • Internal Audit

Kevin has been an Executive General Manager within Energex since 2009 initially overseeing Strategy and Regulation. He assumed the EGM Customer and Corporate Relations role in January 2013.

Since commencing in the Electricity Supply Industry in 1981, Kevin has held various engineering and management positions.

His capability encompasses engineering, regulatory, strategy and operational management experience.

Kevin’s senior management experience over recent years has been directed towards commercial strategy and regulation activities and programs, in particular, Energex's regulatory review.


 

Peter EffeneyCEO SPARQ Solutions - Peter Effeney

B.E. (Hons) B.Sc. M.B.A

Responsible for SPARQ Solutions, the jointly owned Information and Communications Technology (ICT) subsidiary of Energex and Ergon Energy. 

Peter has been the CEO of SPARQ Solutions since the company’s formation in July 2004.

SPARQ Solutions manages ICT operations across the state for Energex and Ergon Energy and supports more than 8,000 users.

Prior to joining SPARQ, Peter was a member of the Executive Management Team of Ergon Energy and held a number of management, engineering and ICT roles.

These included accountability for Customer Service, Information Systems and Services, and Business Process Development. 

Peter has also held secondments in roles as diverse as General Manager of Ergon Energy's Distribution Business and General Manager Workplace Health & Safety.
