Terry EffeneyChief Executive Officer - Terry Effeney

BE (Hons), BEcon, MEng, GAICD, RPEQ, FIEAust

Terry Effeney was appointed CEO of ENERGEX in January 2007.

Prior to joining ENERGEX, Terry held the role of COO (Chief Operating Officer) of Ergon Energy and was an Executive Manager with Ergon Energy and its predecessor organisations for more than 10 years.

Terry has more than 30 years experience in the energy industry, combining an engineering and economics background with extensive operational management experience.

Terry is Chair of Energy Networks Association (ENA).


 

Darren BusineChief Financial Officer - Darren Busine

BEc, FCPA, FFin, GAICD

Darren joined ENERGEX as the Chief Financial Officer on 29 October 2007.

He has over 20 years’ experience in finance and strategic management roles; predominantly in the finance and energy industries.

Prior to joining ENERGEX, Darren held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Ergon Energy from 2006 and Group Financial Controller from 2000.

Prior to joining Ergon Energy, Darren spent 10 years with Suncorp Metway in a range of finance, strategic and commercial management roles.


 

Susan Keho

Human Resources - Susan Kehoe

Susan has held executive positions in some of Australia’s largest retail, financial services, telecommunication and government organisations.

She has worked in senior roles in human resources, business productivity improvement, strategy and line management.

She has also led major transitions and organisation-wide change projects.

Prior to joining ENERGEX, Susan worked for Woolworths, Telstra and National Australia Bank in executive management roles.


 

Chris ArnoldNetwork Performance - Chris Arnold

BEng, Grad Dip Bus Management

Reponsible to the Chief Executive Officer for:

  • Systems Engineering
  • Environmental Management
  • Network Property Data and Coordination
  • Demand and Risk Management

Chris was appointed General Manager Network Performance in 2006.

Chris has worked in various parts of the Queensland electricity industry since graduating as an electrical engineer in 1982.

He joined SEQEB in 1988 as a Technical Investigations Engineer and carried out a number of diverse technical engineering roles mainly associated with network planning.

In 1998, he managed the ENERGEX regulatory determination processes with the Regulator (Queensland Competition Authority) for both electricity and gas regulated businesses.

More recently, Chris was Group Manager Customer Connections and Gas Services, Manager Homesuite and General Manager Works, which focused on the delivery of the ENERGEX Capital Works Program.


 

Programming, Procurement and Services - Peter Price

Peter PriceBEng (Hons), MEngSc, MCIPS, FAICD

Responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for:

  • Program of Work Planning and Development
  • Project Management
  • Program Delivery Coordination
  • Procurement and supply chain
  • Network Commercial, Non-Regulated Revenue and Support Services 

Peter was appointed to the position of Executive General Manager Programming, Procurement and Services in March 2006.

Peter has held various positions within ENERGEX since joining the company in 1981 after attaining an Honours Bachelor Degree in Engineering and a Masters in Engineering Science at the University of Queensland. 

His senior management experience has seen him involved in all aspects of the energy industry, including capital planning and program delivery, asset management, procurement, regulatory issues, commercial and non-regulated revenue.

Peter has been involved in a number of external committees and is presently Chair of Energy Skills Queensland and SkillsTech Australia.


 

Peter WeaverCustomer Services - Peter Weaver

BCom, MBA, FAICD

Responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for:

  • Business Support Services
  • Property Services
  • Contact Centre
  • Corporate Communication
  • Customer Advocacy
  • Government Relations
  • Energy Market Services
  • Legal Group

Peter joined ENERGEX in 1998 as General Manager, Customer Service with a key role of consolidating the Call Centre, Customer Accounts and Service Delivery sections in preparation for the opening of the commercial electricity market. 

In July 2001 he was appointed General Manager Shared Services and took on the additional responsibilities for Business Support Services, Property Group, Finance and Human Resources and Procurement Services Group. 

Peter was co-sponsor of the project to manage the retail sale process and the consequent two-year separation project. 

Following the sale of our Retail Operations, he relinquished responsibility for the Finance Group and Human Resources and added responsibility for Government Relations, Corporate Communications, Customer Advocacy and the Energy Market Services Group. 

Previously, Peter spent 14 years at Ansett Airlines in accounting, operations and sales roles before purchasing his own small business in North Queensland in 1997.


 

Bill LyonEnergy Delivery - Bill Lyon

Responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for the overall strategic and operational delivery of:

  • Design
  • Projects & Works Management
  • Contract Delivery
  • Major Projects
  • Field Services (North and South)
  • Network Operations
  • Improvement and Delivery Support

Bill Lyon was appointed General Manager Energy Delivery in August 2006.

Prior to joining ENERGEX, Bill held a number of senior roles at Telstra over a period of six years. 

Bill's broad range of skills and experience in engineering, business development and strategy, project management, and implementation of Six Sigma helped him to deliver significant savings and improved business performance for Telstra when he was employed there.

Bill also has considerable experience in leading and managing large workforces and in delivering substantial operational and strategic programs of work.


 

Kevin KehlStrategy and Regulation - Kevin Kehl

Responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for:

  • Strategy and Development
  • Revenue Strategy
  • Regulatory Affairs
  • Corporate Strategy
  • Strategic Initiatives
  • Internal Audit

Kevin was appointed to the position of Executive General Manager Strategy and Regulation in August 2009.

Since commencing in the Electricity Supply Industry in 1981, Kevin has held various engineering and management positions.

His capability encompasses engineering, regulatory, strategy and operational management experience.

Kevin’s senior management experience over recent years has been directed towards commercial strategy and regulation activities and programs, in particular, ENERGEX’s regulatory review.


 

Peter EffeneyCEO SPARQ Solutions - Peter Effeney

B.E. (Hons) B.Sc. M.B.A

Responsible for SPARQ Solutions, the jointly owned Information and Communications Technology (ICT) subsidiary of ENERGEX and Ergon Energy. 

Peter has been the CEO of SPARQ Solutions since the company’s formation in July 2004.

SPARQ Solutions manages ICT operations across the state for ENERGEX and Ergon Energy and supports more than 8,000 users.

Prior to joining SPARQ, Peter was a member of the Executive Management Team of Ergon Energy and held a number of management, engineering and ICT roles.

These included accountability for Customer Service, Information Systems and Services, and Business Process Development. 

Peter has also held secondments in roles as diverse as General Manager of Ergon Energy's Distribution Business and General Manager Workplace Health & Safety.
