ENERGEX Executive team
Chief Executive Officer – Terry Effeney BE, BEc, ME, GAICD, RPEQ
Responsible to the Board for the overall operation, strategic planning and interfaces with shareholders, government and other major stakeholders.
Terry Effeney was appointed CEO of ENERGEX in January 2007. Prior to joining ENERGEX, Terry held the role of COO (Chief Operating Officer) of Ergon Energy for three years and was an Executive Manager with Ergon Energy and its predecessor organisations for more than ten years. Terry has more than 25 years experience in the energy industry, combining an engineering and economics background with extensive operational management experience.
Chief Financial Officer – Darren Busine BEc, FCPA, FFin, GAICD
Reponsible to the Chief Executive Officer for Financial Control, Tax and Treasury, Performance Management, Strategic Change and Program Management, Commercial and Finance and Regulatory Affairs.
Darren Busine joined ENERGEX as the Chief Financial Officer on October 29 2007. Darren has over 20 years experience in finance and strategic management roles predominantly in the finance and energy industries.
Prior to joining ENERGEX, Darren held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Ergon Energy since 2006 and Group Financial Controller from 2000.
Prior to joining Ergon Energy Darren spent 10 years in Suncorp Metway in a range of finance and strategic and commercial management roles.
Corporate Governance – Michael Russell BE, MBA, Grad Dip AppCorpGov, GAICD, ACIS, MIEAust, CPEng
Reponsible to the Chief Executive Officer for Legal, Internal Audit, Secretariat and Governance, Corporate Risk and Compliance.
Michael Russell has been General Manager Corporate Governance since June 2007 and Company Secretary of the ENERGEX Group Companies since early 2004. Since commencing with SEQEB in 1984, Michael has held various engineering and management positions. In the last ten years, his expertise in corporate governance has been developed through responsibilities that included the management of significant ENERGEX investments in other organisation.
Human Resources – Susan Kehoe MBus, BSocWk, BA
Susan has held executive positions in some of Australia’s largest retail, financial services, telecommunication and government organisations. She has worked in senior strategy roles in corporate planning, human resources, and business innovation and improvement. She has also led major transitions and organisation-wide projects in system implementation and business process reengineering.
Prior to joining ENERGEX, Susan worked for five years for Woolworths in Sydney. She held senior roles as the Executive Manager eBusiness and the Executive Manager of Workplace and Business Transition. Susan was also a driving force behind the highly successful Refresh program.
Network Performance – Chris Arnold BEng, Grad Dip Bus Management
Reponsible to the Chief Executive Officer for Network Capital Planning, Network Reliability and Maintenance, Systems Engineering, Corporate Safety, Environment, Network Property Data and Coordination and Demand and Risk Management.
Chris was appointed General Manager Network Performance in 2006. Chris has worked in various parts of the Queensland electricity industry since graduating as an Electrical Engineer in 1982. He joined SEQEB in 1988 as a Technical Investigations Engineer and carried out a number of diverse technical engineering roles mainly associated with network planning. In 1998 he managed the ENERGEX regulatory determination processes with the Regulator (Queensland Competition Authority) for both electricity and gas regulated businesses and more recently was Group Manager Customer Connections and Gas Services, Manager Homesuite and General Manager Works which focused on the delivery of the ENERGEX capital works program.
Network Programming and Procurement – Peter Price BEng (Hons), MEngSc
Responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for Program of Work Planning and Development, Major Electricity Network Project Management, Program Delivery Coordination, Procurement and Compliance Support Services and Network Commercial.
Peter Price has held various positions within ENERGEX since joining the company in 1981. after attaining an honours Bachelor Degree in Engineering and a Masters in Engineering Science at University of Queensland. His senior management experience of the past 15 years has seen him involved in all aspects of the energy industry including capital planning and program delivery, asset management, procurement and regulatory issues.
Peter was appointed to the position of General Manager Network Programming and Procurement in March 2006 with accountabilities for program delivery, procurement and contract management, revenue recovery and field support activities including training.
Customer Services – Peter Weaver BCom, MBA, FAICD
Peter joined ENERGEX in 1998 as General Manager, Customer Service with a key role of consolidating the Call Centre, Customer Accounts and Service Delivery sections in preparation for the opening of the commercial electricity market. In July 2001 he was appointed to General Manager Shared Services and took on the additional responsibilities for Business Support Services, Property Group, Finance and Human Resources.
Following the sale of our Retail Operations he relinquished responsibility for the Finance Group and Human Resources and added responsibility for Government Relations, Corporate Communications, Customer Advocacy and the Energy Market Services Group.
Previously, Peter spent 14 at Ansett Airlines before purchasing his own small business in North Queensland in 1997.
Energy Delivery – Bill Lyon BBus, CertMgt, AssocDipEE
Reponsible to the Chief Executive Officer for the overall strategic, operational and delivery of the Planning and Design, Works Management, Contract Delivery, Major Projects, Field Services (North and South), Network Operations, Improvement and Delivery Support, Commercial and Finance and Energy Delivery Transformation for ENERGEX.
Bill Lyon was appointed General Manager Energy Delivery in August 2006. Prior to joining ENERGEX, Bill held a number of senior roles at Telstra over a period of six years. His most recent position was as the Principal Development Specialist Payment Solutions, Convergent Business and Sales.
Bill's broad range of skills and experience in engineering, business development and strategy, project management, and implementation of Six Sigma helped him to deliver significant savings and improved business performance for Telstra when he was employed there.
Bill has also had considerable experience leading and managing large workforces and in delivering substantial operational and strategic programs of work.
Strategy and Regulation – Kevin Kehl B Eng (Hons), Grad Cert Elect Supp Eng
Responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for business Strategy and Development, Revenue Strategy, Regulatory Affairs and Network Strategy.
Kevin was appointed to the position of Executive General Manager Strategy and Regulation in August 2009.
Since commencing in the Electricity Supply Industry in 1981, Kevin has held various engineering and management positions. His capability encompasses engineering, regulatory, strategy and operational management experience. Kevin’s senior management experience over recent years has been directed towards commercial strategy and regulation activities and programs, more specifically ENERGEX’s regulatory review.
