electronic mapping system (GIS)

ENERGEX utilises a sophisticated electronic mapping system called enerGISe geographic system. This replaces the paper-based system of mapping ENERGEX's massive system of network assets. Now, staff can simply connect to the company's Intranet to locate ENERGEX assets, whether for planning, design, construction or operation and maintenance of the electricity and gas networks. The electronic network is superimposed on street and property boundaries, so it resembles a street directory, and delivers, at greater speed and accuracy, the location of assets. This allows access to network records, providing ENERGEX with a faster response to customer supply problems during emergencies and also greater coordination of capital and maintenance works, which has led to fewer planned interruptions to supply.

managing our electricity distribution network

ENERGEX's Distribution Management System (DMS) is an innovative system, which helps ENERGEX manage the electricity distribution network so we deliver improved electricity supply restoration times.

One of DMS's applications is a service call management, which replaces the paper-based identification of electricity network faults. Now, with information from our customers, and the use of our monitoring equipment, we can more accurately predict the exact location of a network fault. This allows us to send repair crews directly to the suspected site thus delivering faster response to outages, therefore quicker restoration times to our customers.
