legal and regulatory obligations
The regulatory environment of the electricity and gas industries has been restructured in the last decade. The National Electricity Market (NEM) commenced on 13 December 1998 to allow electricity trade between generators and customers in NSW, Victoria, South Australia and the ACT. Full contestability of the gas market commenced in Victoria in March 1999, and has since been followed by NSW.
Legislation exists at both State and National levels that impact upon ENERGEX's operations including the National Electricity Rules, Electricity Act and Electricity Industry Code. ENERGEX also complies with applicable laws, regulations and codes, such as:
