regulatory affairs
The regulatory environment affects the markets in which we operate and therefore has a significant impact on how the business operates and develops.
The Regulatory Affairs Group deals with legislation, regulation, licences and codes and developments within the energy markets, and their impact on the business environment. It aims to minimise regulatory risk whilst maximising competitive position.
Regulatory Compliance
- ENERGEX's ring fencing protocols policy aims to ensure that staff engaged in regulated services (being prescribed distribution activities in electricity) are aware of the need for appropriate behaviour and treatment of confidential information. This is to ensure that the unregulated elements of ENERGEX Limited's business are not given a competitive advantage in respect of contestable services. Compliance with ring-fencing requirements is imposed by the Queensland jurisdictional regulator, the Queensland Competition Authority (QCA), under the National Electricity Code and National Gas Code.
regulatory reform
ENERGEX is dedicated to examining current regulatory frameworks and identifying any deficiencies in these frameworks so it can develop alternative options for more appropriate forms of regulation. This process involves:
- researching cutting edge regulatory thought;
- educating internal and external stakeholders;
- ensuring that regulatory evolution / revolution occurs in a manner that gives ENERGEX the opportunity to successfully develop its business and be rewarded for outstanding performance.
