Rocklea Substation
As a result of growing electricity demand in southern Brisbane, ENERGEX is proposing to expand the ENERGEX Rocklea Substation located on the corner of Muriel Avenue and Beaudesert Road, Moorooka.
The expansion involves building on the vacant land adjoining the ENERGEX substation, purchased by ENERGEX in 2003.
The proposal to expand the existing substation includes establishing a new modular building and electricity equipment, including a 33 000 volt to 11 000 volt transformer.
Development Application
The Public Notification Period for the proposed expansion is now open. If you would like to comment on the proposed expansion, please make a submission to the Brisbane City Council Assessment Manager before 1 February 2012.

Project design
Our new modular substation buildings are architecturally designed and made from green colour bond material to be compatible with natural surroundings.
The substation fence will be expanded to include the new substation, landscaping will be undertaken to improve the visual amenity.
