Substation Training has been designed for employees within the energy distribution/supply industry.
Metering Training is conducted in-house. Energex is the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for the course.

After completing this section of the course, the successful
trainee will have gained knowledge and skills in the

- advanced relay operated substation functional procedures
- switching operations
- Substation Automated Control Systems (SACS) up to 33 kV.

outcomes
After completing this section of the course, the successful
trainee will be able to undertake the following:
- list general safety requirements for working in and around HV plant and equipment
- identify and inspect safety equipment
- identify common components of HV plant and equipment
- prepare, check, authorise and issue switching sheets/programs and permits
- identify, administer and apply appropriate procedures for access to HV, including testing to prove dead/de-energised and applying earths
- operate HV plant and equipment indoor, outdoor, overhead and underground, on customers’ equipment wherever possible
- discuss common phenomena that adversely affect HV systems, for example harmonics and ferro resonance
- identify the minimum requirements to meet statutory regulations, for example documented procedures, records of tests and labelling
