carbon footprint
The science of climate change has gained wide acceptance in the community, with consumers, governments, business and the scientific and academic community forming a consensus on this topic. The Australian Government has recently initiated several policy measures that will recognise this consensus and increase the regulatory response.
Carbon footprints, or Greenhouse Gas inventories, are the critical first step in the process of gaining management control of carbon intensity in a business. ENERGEX has commissioned the carbon footprint technical report 06/07 to assist us to understand our risks and liabilities, engage in the current policy development for the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (previously called the Australian Emissions Trading Scheme) and enable a structured approach to the reduction of carbon intensity in the business.
This report is for the 06/07 financial year and is the first time ENERGEX has carried out a carbon footprint that is consistent with the international standards that underpin the development of the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007 (NGER Act).
