ENERGEX and embedded small-scale generators
Solar photovoltaic inverter systems and other embedded generators
ENERGEX supports the installation of small-scale grid-connected inverter-based generators that convert clean, renewable energy into electricity that can be used in your home or business premises, as well as exporting any excess to the grid for the use by others.

These systems, known as Inverter Energy Systems, or IES, operate in parallel with the grid supply at your premises. Sources of renewable energy can include solar photovoltaic cells or micro-turbines driven by wind or water.
Your Renewable Energy System installer will be the primary contact to help you decide what system is best for you, and to assist you in claiming any rebates that may apply to your installation. We strongly recommend that you use an installer who is accredited by the Australian Business Council for Sustainable Energy, the BCSE.
There are a number of responsibilities that come with the ownership of an electrical energy system that has the ability to feed power back into the shared electricity grid. These responsibilities are stated in the ENERGEX network connection agreement.
The Queensland Department of Mines and Energy also has a fact sheet that provides more information regarding the Solar Bonus Scheme, where a fixed amount is paid per kilowatt-hour of energy fed into the distribution grid.
