10 Summer Energy Saving Tips

Set your air con to 24°C, not 18°C, and turn it off when you go out. Close your curtains and blinds before your home gets hot
Before you turn on air condtioning, close windows and doors. Connect new pool/spa pumps to Tariff 33 (best done during construction).
Think about what you want before you open the fridge. Replace old bulbs with compact fluorescents that are up to 80% more effcient.
Save on water heating costs by installing AAA rated water-saving shower roses. Don't use your oven or clothes dryer during the heat of the day.
Standby power consumes up to 10% of home electricity. Turn it off when not in use Don’t pay for power when you are on holidays. Turn off all unnecessary power before you go. The fire service says it is safer as well.
