Powerful boost underway for Warner and Bray Park electricity supplies

21 June 2012

Energex has commenced a $1.3 million upgrade of the electricity network in Warner and Bray Park which will boost power supplies to homes and businesses in the area.

The project will include the installation of new electrical equipment on both the underground and overhead power network to improve power reliability, and allow quicker restoration of electricity supplies if unexpected interruptions occur.

Energex Asset Manager Tim Hart said the upgrade would benefit almost 8,000 homes and businesses in Warner, Bray Park, Lawnton, Strathpine, Joyner, Cashmere, Petrie, Whiteside, Dayboro and Kurwongbah.

"Energex is committed to providing all areas of South East Queensland with a safe and reliable electricity supply and this project will ensure we continue to deliver on that commitment in the areas surrounding Warner and Bray Park," he said.

"Importantly, the upgrade will give Energex technicians more options for restoring electricity quickly if unexpected power interruptions occur as a result of incidents like storms or motor vehicle accidents."

Subject to weather conditions works are due to be completed by October 2012.

Mr Hart thanked the local community in advance for their patience during the upgrades.

This project is part of a five-year capital expenditure program being undertaken by Energex to upgrade the South East Queensland electricity network.
