Changes to your connection - NECF

Light bulb and fingers pulling on cordChanges impacting our customers

Changes to the energy industry will commence in Queensland from 1 July 2012.

The changes are part of a national energy reform under the National Energy Customer Framework (NECF).

The most significant change for our customers relates to connections.

Changes to connections

From 1 July 2012, applications for new connections or alterations to existing connections will need to be made directly to ENERGEX.

The application can be submitted by you or anyone acting on your behalf.

Following lodgement of your application, we will provide an offer outlining the connection service.

If you agree to the terms and conditions, a connection service contract will be made between you and ENERGEX.

It is important to note, if someone applies on your behalf, you are authorising them to accept the terms and conditions on your behalf.

For some of you, this is an additional step in the process.  Before we can safely complete connection to the ENERGEX power network, you will still need to:

  • contact an energy retailer
  • have a licensed electrician complete the work on your premise or property to Australian Standards

An important note for our business customers

At ENERGEX, we understand completing due diligence is an integral part of managing a business.

We will continue to assist in providing you with the information required as part of a pre-feasibility study.

Early Deployment of connection changes relating to NECF has commenced.

Keeping you up to date

We will continue to update this space with more information on changes that may impact you as 1 July 2012 draws closer.
