Sun shining over solar panelsMicro-generation including solar photovoltaic

At ENERGEX, we advocate renewable energy sources as a positive contribution to the environment.

Sources of renewable energy can include solar photovoltaic cells or micro-turbines driven by wind or water.

We support the installation of small scale gird connected micro-generators that convert renewable energy into electricity that can be used in your home or business premises.

These systems use inverters to operate in parallel with the grid supply at your premises.

They also offer the possibility to export any excess energy to the grid for use by others.

The installer that is installing your micro-generation system will be the primary contact to assist you in making a decision about which system is best for you.

They will also assist you in claiming any rebates that may apply to your installation.

We strongly recommend that you use an installer that is accredited by the Clean Energy Council.

Their website lists accredited installers and provides consumer information.

There are a number of responsibilities that come with the ownership of a grid connected micro-generator that has the ability to feed power back into the grid.

These responsibilities are detailed in the ENERGEX Network Connection Agreement (below).

This agreement must be signed and sent back to ENERGEX before the installation of the system commences.

How to connect

We will connect Solar PV metering to your property on completion of network connection approval and once all of the following pieces of correspondence have been received:

  • Application to Network Connect an Inverter Energy System (including Solar PV) Form 1003 (used for network approval and to create the Network Connection Agreement).

This form is sent to us from the installer. Once received, we will forward the Network Connection Agreement to you to be signed and returned to ENERGEX.
  • Signed Network Connection Agreement returned to ENERGEX.
  • EWR (Form 2) submitted by the licensed electrical contractor that completed the electrical work for your installation.
  • Request from your electricity retailer (also known as a B2B).
