Cost allocation method

The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) is responsible for the regulation of electricity network charges and also the approval of our Cost Allocation Methodology.

Network charges are the tariffs that we can charge customers and generators to access our network and for the distribution of electricity via our network.

Our current Cost Allocation Method (PDF 983.2 kb) was approved by the AER in March 2022, following a revision to reflect changes to the organisational and corporate structure, accountability and responsibilities. It supersedes the prior Cost Allocation Method approved by the AER
in November 2018.

It does not alter the methods used to attribute costs to us or allocate costs to service categories which came into effect from 1 July 2020. The Cost Allocation Method was developed in conjunction with Energex and applies from 1 January 2022.
