M950  Inspection of Earthing Systems

Skills acquired

  • Explain basic principles of electrical earthing systems 
  • Identify defective, substandard or potentially hazardous conditions in existing earthing systems on the distribution network (overhead or underground) 
  • Measure earth resistance using a clamp on earth tester for a range of situations on the distribution network (overhead or underground) 
  • Record inspection information using a hand held computer and make recommendations
