How it works

Positive Payback Business is one of the initiatives we have developed to help manage peak demand as an alternative solution to increasing our electricity infrastructure.

The program offers funding to small, medium and large businesses that are located in an eligible area and install or upgrade equipment/appliances that lower onsite peak electricity demand. Funding varies depending on whether you are classed as a large business, or a small to medium business

.A large business will have:

  • Electricity consumption greater than 100 MWh;
  • Type 4 metering (that collects demand interval data) or other metering deemed suitable by Energex;
  • Installing or upgrading equipment/appliances that lowers onsite peak electricity demand.

A small to medium business may be eligible for funding if you can demonstrate a saving of 1 kilowatt or more of electricity during peak times. Most smaller businesses will achieve this through lighting upgrades, although there are a range of available solutions.
