Queensland Government Solar Bonus Scheme

The Queensland Government Solar Bonus Scheme (SBS) is now closed to new applicants. The SBS provides eligible customers with a payment for excess electricity generated and exported to the network. This payment is also known as a 'feed-in tariff'.

I am currently receiving a 44 cent feed-in tariff.  Will I continue to receive this rate?

If you are currently receiving a 44 cent feed-in tariff and continue to maintain your eligibility under the Queensland Government Solar Bonus Scheme legislation, you will continue to receive that rate until the scheme concludes.

I was receiving an 8 cent feed-in tariff, however noticed this is no longer on my account?

The 8 cent feed-in tariff concluded on 1 July 2014.  From this date, electricity retailers set and pay their own feed-in tariffs and enquiries should be directed to your retailer for further information.

Will I retain my eligibility for the 44 cent feed-in tariff if I increase the size of my inverter?

No.  If you increase the capacity of your inverter than that originally approved on your network connection contract, you will no longer be eligible for the 44 cent feed-in tariff under the conditions of the Queensland Solar Bonus Scheme.  Any changes to your inverter that increases its capacity will also require you to lodge a new network connection application.

Account name changes - 44 cent feed-in tariff

Under the Queensland Government Solar Bonus Scheme Legislation, if you currently receive the 44 cent feed-in tariff and a change to the name of the electricity account occurs, the 44 cent feed-in tariff will permanently no longer apply at the premises. The only exception to this is where the account name change occurs between spouses.

Account name changes are initiated by advice from the electricity retailer responsible for the premises and the retailer request will automatically trigger the removal of the 44 cent feed-in tariff.

Where you believe the 44 cent feed-in tariff has been incorrectly removed as a result of this legislation, you can apply for Energex to complete a review.  A review can only be requested if you are still the electricity account holder at the premises or the account name change relates to your spouse.

For review, complete the Solar Bonus Scheme Tariff Change (Form 1641), save the form and then email with supporting documentation to the email address supplied on the form.

Please note, completion of this form does not automatically guarantee reinstatement of the 44 cent feed-in tariff.
