Make an alteration to an existing connection

Energex is the Distribution Network Service Provider for most of South-East Queensland.

Before you establish a new connection or make an alteration to an existing connection, check that Energex is the Distribution Network Service Provider for your area.

A Network Connection Agreement (CX) is not required for metering and tariff changes and can be arranged directly through your electrical contractor.

Timeframes

Energex must adhere to timeframes for alterations to existing connections. Find out the relevant timeframes below.

Existing connections

Energex must adhere to timeframes for alterations to existing connections. For all locations we will attend the property within 10 business days on receipt of the following:

  • a valid Network Connection Agreement (CX)
  • an Electrical Work Request (EWR) from your electrician
  • a valid service order request (B2B) from your electricity retailer

Timeframes are dependent on network availability and access requirements.

A Network Connection Agreement (CX) is not required for metering and tariff changes.

Meter reconfiguration (changing between off-peak tariffs)

For all locations, 20 business days on receipt of the following:

  • a valid service order request (B2B) from your electricity retailer

Please note: Weather conditions and requests for an appointment may impact response times.

Reconnection of electricity at a property (re-energisation)

For all locations, except excluded locations:

We will provide a same day service if a valid service order request (B2B) is received from your electricity retailer by 1pm on a business day.

If the service order request from your retailer is received after 1pm on a business day:

  • Energex must receive a phone call from your retailer by 2:30pm to confirm the job will go ahead.
  • If Energex does not receive a phone call from your retailer, the B2B will be returned to your retailer and new paperwork will be required.

Disconnection of electricity at a property (de-energisation)

For all locations, except excluded locations:

We will attend the property to disconnect electricity within five business days on receipt of a valid service order request (B2B) from your electricity retailer.
