Electricity regulators
We are a participant in the National Electricity Market. We must operate and maintain our network in accordance with the National Electricity Rules and meet jurisdictional requirements. The rules and requirements which we must follow are developed by regulators.
To find out more about our regulators please refer to the table below.
| Regulator | Role |
|---|---|
| Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Energy Council | High level National Electricity Market policy direction |
| Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) | Rule maker and energy market development |
| Australian Energy Regulator (AER) | Economic regulation and enforcement of the rules |
| Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) | Operation of the power system and the National Electricity Market |
| Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) | Enforces the Electricity Distribution Network Code and regulates retail electricity prices in regional Queensland. From 1 July 2016, retail electricity prices in South East Queensland are no longer regulated by the QCA. |
Electricity retailers
We are an electricity distributor and don't sell electricity directly to customers. A full listing of all electricity retailers currently trading in Queensland can be viewed on the Energy Made Easy website.
