Energex Restoration Update 6:30pm

Energex Restoration Update 6:30pm

27 January 2013

As the severe weather continues throughout South East Queensland, more than 150,000 homes and businesses have lost power in the last 24 hours. Crews have managed to restore power to 40,000 however in these conditions restoration efforts are difficult.

More than 820 fallen powerlines reports have been received and we urge the public if they see a fallen powerline to keep themselves and others well away and phone 13 19 62.

As at 6:30pm, areas currently affected are:

Brisbane City Council – 19000 homes and businesses
Gold Coast City Council - 2900
Gympie Regional Council -3500
Ipswich City Council - 900
Logan City Council - 12500
Moreton Bay Regional Council - 17000
Redland City Council - 4300
Scenic Rim Regional Council - 4900
Somerset Regional Council - 150
Sunshine Coast Regional -26500

Crews will be working throughout the night to restore power where it is safe to do so, however many areas won’t have power restored until tomorrow due to the dangerous weather conditions.

Safety for the public and Energex’s staff is our highest priority. We thank our customers for their patience while our crews are out working in very difficult conditions to get the power up and running.
