Queensland Household Energy Survey

Since 2009, Ergon Energy Network and Energex have worked with Powerlink Queensland to understand how Queensland households use energy. Each year, we run the Queensland Household Energy Survey (QHES).

2026 survey update

The 2026 survey is now closed. We are currently analysing the results. Key insights will be shared on this page in mid‑2026.

What the survey tracks

The QHES tracks the following insights:

  • How Queenslanders are using energy
  • How household behaviours are changing
  • How new technologies are being adopted
  • As well as general customer sentiment.

These insights help us plan and invest in our electricity networks so they can continue to meet Queensland’s energy needs into the future.

Your feedback helps us understand what matters to customers and where focus is needed.

2025 survey report

With responses from more than 4,000 Queensland households, you can read the full QHES 2025 Report and explore interactive survey results at qhes.com.au.

The interactive website allows you to:

  • Explore results by topic
  • View data by location, age group and solar ownership
  • Compare trends over time.

The 2025 insights report includes household profiles that show the different needs, choices and challenges faced by Queensland households.

Key findings include:

  • Cost of living pressures remain high
Electricity bills are now the second most concerning bill for households
  • Trust and reliability have improved
Even with more outages caused by severe weather, customers reported higher satisfaction with the outage response from Ergon Energy Network and Energex
  • Slower uptake of new energy technologies
Many households are delaying large purchases. Interest in energy‑use tools, such as Home Energy Management Systems, has decreased.

These insights are helping us build a safer, more reliable and more affordable energy network for the future.
