How targeted photos can speed up your Connection application

We are promoting an approach to support faster connection assessments by reducing the need for early field crew inspections in suitable scenarios.

Electrical contractors are encouraged to proactively provide targeted site photos as part of their initial enquiry or application submission. Including this information upfront as standard practice can allow assessments to proceed without the need for a site visit, helping to reduce delays and improve overall turnaround times.

Examples of useful photos include:

  • Underground pillar photos to confirm three phase availability
  • Overhead network photos to confirm supply arrangement and identify potential constraints such as property crossings

When providing photos:

  • Photos must be taken by a licensed electrical mechanic who is an Authorised Person
  • Images should clearly show the relevant asset and any identifying details, such as pillar numbers
  • Photos can be uploaded through the portal or provided in support of your enquiry

Open pillar providing additional information for connection application Providing this information upfront will assist in:

  • Reducing assessment timeframes
  • Minimising the need for field crew attendance
  • Supporting faster and more efficient connection outcomes

Where additional information is required, this will still be requested as part of the assessment process.
