The next stage in the process, for those who are successful, is to be invited to attend an assessment centre in a regional centre. This could include areas such as Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Maryborough, Toowoomba or various other depots dependent on numbers and locations.
The day is broken down into two stages.
Stage 1 – Online testing is undertaken to verify your results detailed in the application form (approximately 1 ½ hours)
- Trade language literacy and numeracy
- Verbal reasoning
- Colour perception wire assessment
- Manual dexterity assessment.
There's no need to study for these tests. Practice tests are available by searching online if you would like to refresh your skills or use the practice test. These tests measure your abilities as they relate to the role of an electrical industry technical employee. Results will be kept confidential and will not be provided to applicants once completed.
If you are successful at stage 1 you will be invited to remain for stage 2. Unfortunately, not all attendees will necessarily be successful at this stage. We will assess your results and inform you whether you will be required to remain for stage 2 shortly after your testing is complete.
Stage 2 – Team activities (approximately 2½ hours)
This stage involves undertaking assessed team activities. You will also hear from our apprentice group and the recruiting managers about what you can expect as an apprentice. This is a great opportunity to ask as many questions as you like about being an apprentice, studies, travel, or the recruitment process.
